Cloudy days make great photo days!

Nothing like some clouds to add drama to a scene! If you’re looking for a great vantage point of downtown San Francisco check out “Ina Coolbrith Park.”

Sailing on The Bay

I often get disappointed with myself for not taking advantage of all the amazing things one can do here in the San Francisco Bay Area. So when my wife asked me if I’d like to go for a ride on her co-workers sail boat, of course I responded with a “HELL YEA!” From calm waters to rough waters, to dodging  boats on the bay while listening to music ranging from Classic Rock to EDM  (electronic dance music) it was the most fun I had in a long time.

One Kearny

Ever since returning from my most recent trip to Asia, I’ve been in a restless state. I’m constantly searching for ways to cure the travel bug, which seems to have bitten me real good this time around. Fortunately for me, the local newspaper published an article listing public spaces that people can visit in private areas around San Francisco. The rooftop terrace on One Kearny is an example of a privately owned public space. Here are a few photos I took while being a tourist in my own city.

Sunday Morning visit to the Golden Gate

It’s 3am people are asleep, a couple friends and I are gearing up to head towards the Golden Gate Bridge. We all have our own visions of what we want to accomplish, but we all have a common goal. That goal is to come back home with at least one great capture. The photo below with the fisherman was that one great capture for me, the one shot that made the whole adventure worth it.

A week with the GF-1

I’m often asked, “What’s a good camera I should buy?” So when a friend recently purchased a used Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 for $280, I was curious to see what I could do with it. Back in 2009 this camera was selling for around $1,000. Unfortunately in technology terms, five years means vintage! My overall impression, this is one of those rare times when I can use the words “good” and “cheap” in the same sentence.

Me, my iPhone, & the SF Bay

Sunday I was out on a gig with fellow photog Danny Lee and lucky for me it was on a Yacht heading into the middle of the San Francisco Bay. A “Win!” for sure since there was an air show going on because of Fleet Week. (BTW probably one of the best ways to experience “Fleet Week”) Here are a few iPhone snaps from the day.

“Night at the Museum”

Last night I had a chance to check out “Sharktoberfest” over at the California Academy of Sciences. ( Here are some photos from the night. Oh, by the way this was my first visit since their remodel and it was great! I highly recommend checking it out on a Thursday night if you’re looking for something really fun to do.
